Is Ignorance Bliss?
Long Harvest with an excellent yield
The 2017 harvest, lasting 66 days, was one of extremes. The harvest started later than anticipated, with a cool, wet spring. However, a record-breaking dry spell followed in July and August, with temperatures well above seasonal norms. This warm, dry summer resulted in a crop of small, concentrated berries that should produce wines of exceptional depth and intensity. The harvest concluded on October 30, yielding a crop reminiscent of the incredible 2009 vintage.
All that effort from the Osoyoos (54%) and Oliver (46%) vineyards came a lovely medium Merlot that is quite fruit forward. 15 months in oak certainly contributes to the fullness.
Thick, local lamb chops, with lots of rosemary, made an ideal pairing.

Codici = codes.
This brand derives its’ passion from the cultural codes of the wild and unique land of Puglia – abundant in architecture, folklore and diverse cultures – and great food.
Negroamaro is the grape. Deep red colour with ruby highlights. Berries rather than fruit on the palette – tending to slightly spicy and a bit of a smokiness.
This one races instantly into the top 5 reds we’ve had this year.
Definitely going to repeat it – with cheeses one time, big lamb dish the next, and then maybe something like Pastitsio the next time.

Rock Balancing Land Art by Pontus Jansson
One Curmudgeon. Two Curmudgeon. Three.
Living Next Door to one is one thing. Knowing another across the Pond is another.
Personality Plus Plus in print and on both radio and TV, Jock was resourceful and unintimidated in his interviews.
You could almost call it a memoir. He bares his soul, his pride, his doubts, and his guilts. It’s a great tale of an eventful life.
Even Shirley MacLane liked him “You bring out the most extraordinary maternal instincts in me“
We need another Curmudgeon in print, on Radio and Television to fight for the little guy and the underdogs and disadvantaged.
